2011 BFMAF Emerging Artist Program
The Brandon Folk, Music & Art Festival is sending out the call for this summer’s Emerging Artist Program.
The program is open to artists of all genres and ages as long as you can be considered ‘emerging’ - Meaning you do not yet fill a 300 person venue on your own, you are not signed with a label, even an independent, you do not have a Booking agent or manager. If you fall into this category you are more than welcome to apply to participate.
The program this summer is as follows -
June 24th Noon til 5pm
Session as a group with Mitch Podolak (founder of the Winnipeg Folk Festival and Home Routes) and Tim Osmond the Artistic Director of Home Routes.
Private showcases and adjudication with Mitch and Tim.
June 24th, 8pm, Clancy’s short set
Emerging Artist Showcase
Each participant will get a short set in this evening showcase. Monies raised go to pay for the costs of the program so that we can keep it free and accessible. Other programs of this kind cost hundreds of dollars and we believe in keeping this open to everyone.
July 21st-24th All weekend
Participants in the Emerging Artist Program will get booked for a variety of programming at the festival. This could include – short sets inbetween Headliner’s on the mainstage in the evening, participation in daytime workshops and showcases, on site collaborative workshops and mentoring sessions with headlining artists.
You are given a backstage artist pass which includes hospitality for the whole weekend and a festival and campground pass.
Participants are required to participate in all programming outlined here. Very few exceptions will be made.
If you are interested please forward you name, phone number, age (this isn’t required but helps us understand where you are in your career, although it is required if you are under 18), and if you have a sample of your music (myspace or audio file) if not please describe as best as you can the style of your music.
Thanks so much. Please get back to us asap so we can get your name on the poster! There are only ten spots to be filled.
